Pop art in the 1960's successfully blurred the boundaries between what constituted a fine art work, and mass-produced images. This was particularly true of printmaking, where artists began to use pre-existing commercial techniques such as screenprint, in innovative and groundbreaking ways. Includes works by Patrick Caulfield, Jim Dine, Richard Hamilton, Allen Jones, Joe Tilson and Tom Wesselmann.

 

Print Project Space: Paul Winstanley

Paintings by British artist Paul Winstanley, never before exhibited in the UK, will be shown (together with prints by the artist) in an exhibition at the Alan Cristea Gallery, London, to coincide with the launch of the artist's new monograph, 59 Paintings.

The Alan Cristea Gallery will celebrate the prints of two great American artists, Sol LeWitt (1928 - 2007) and Richard Serra (b. 1938), in two exhibitions that will run concurrently from 14 February to 17 March 2018. 'Richard Serra: Black and White' will include works from several recent prints series as well as six new black oil Paintstick editions which explore the properties of weight, balance and gravity.

 

Sol LeWitt: Colour

The Alan Cristea Gallery will celebrate the prints of two great American artists, Sol LeWitt (1928 - 2007) and Richard Serra (b. 1938), in two exhibitions that will run concurrently from 14 February to 17 March 2018. 'Sol LeWitt: Colour' will focus on late prints by the artist. It is the first solo exhibition of graphic works by LeWitt to be shown in the UK since his death over twenty years ago.

 

History in the Making

A major exhibition of new works by British artist Marie Harnett celebrating fleeting moments of drama, beauty and suspense from contemporary film, will go on show at the Alan Cristea Gallery, London, from 22 November 2017 to 6 January 2018. 'Still' includes several new series of drawings and prints by Harnett who is known for her highly detailed, meticulous drawings, derived from film stills.
