One Day This Glass Will Break by Cornelia Parker opens on 9 June at the Midlands Art Centre (MAC), Birmingham. The exhibition presents twenty large-scale photogravures from Parker's three print series: Thirty Pieces of Silver (exposed), 2015, One Day This Glass Will Break, 2015 and Fox Talbot's Articles of Glass, 2017.
The images were made using familiar everyday objects that were placed on a sensitized plate and exposed to ultra violet light, so that they act as photographic positives. Parker is inspired by the still-lifes of William Fox Talbot, the nineteenth-century pioneer who invented both the photographic negative and the photogravure process.
