has been nominated to receive an OBE for his contribution to art in this year's Queen's Birthday Honours List.
Major commissions include a wall drawing for the British Museum in 2012 as part of their exhibition, Hajj: Journey to the Heart of Islam
. In the same year The New York Times Magazine commissioned five photographic works by Khan for their London issue, including London Eye, which featured on the cover of the magazine. In 2014, Khan collaborated with choreographer Wayne McGregor to produce a stage design for STEPS, Switzerland's contemporary dance biennale, which premiered at Ballet Zurich, Switzerland. In 2016, Khan's UAE Memorial, a permanent public monument commissioned by the United Arab Emirates, was unveiled in the Abu Dhabi Memorial Park.
Born in Birmingham in 1978, Khan completed his Master’s Degree at the Royal College of Art and now lives and works in London. The recent survey exhibition Idris Khan: A World Within
was held at The New Art Gallery Walsall, with solo presentations of the artist’s work previously staged at national and international institutions, including the Whitworth Art Gallery.
