27th Mar 2017This exhibition features major paintings from Gillian Ayres’s career and is the largest exhibition of her work ever seen in the UK. It presents a unique opportunity to see her greatest works from the 1950s through to the 1980s. During this period, Ayres was a regular visitor to Wales and her experiences had a powerful influence on her art. Her connection with Wales was strengthened when she lived and worked on the Llŷn Peninsula between 1981 and 1987, a particularly productive phase in her career. This exhibition will also include rarely seen paintings from the artist’s own collection.
