This Spring sees the publication of the definitive monograph on Gillian Ayres. Coinciding with a major retrospective exhibition at the National Museum Cardiff, Wales, this beautifully produced volume spans Ayres’ long career, from her student days to the very latest works. It includes all of her major paintings, with a dedicated section on her substantial body of prints.
The book, published by Art/ Books, also features unseen photographs of the artist in her studio and home and other ephemeral materials. It is the first major publication on the artist’s life and work in more than fifteen years. Featuring over 400 pages, and 300 illustrations, it includes a foreword by broadcaster and journalist Andrew Marr, and texts by author and art critic, Martin Gayford and David Cleaton-Roberts of the Alan Cristea Gallery.
