Small-Great Objects: Anni and Josef Albers in the Americas
1st Feb 2017
Small-Great Objects explores the connection between the Albers’ art and the arts and crafts that they collected. It investigates how a fascination with the art, culture and craft of Latin America and the American Southwest inspired two of the most influential figures of 20th century modernism. In addition to the objects amassed from their frequent trips to the south, the exhibition brings together a variety of textiles, paintings, photographs and works on paper, all of which demonstrate how their collecting moulded their aesthetic sensibilities, ideologies and teaching practices.
